It Takes Soooo Long to Resign!

Just a quick update....

I gave my resignation to Session last night. Everyone was stunned, but very sweet and affirming.

I just returned from meeting with most of my youth group and as I told them about my leaving, it felt like all the air rushed out of the room. But they did take it well, although they are understandably concerned about the future of the youth program. I'm praying that more adults will step up after I leave.

The letter to the congregation is going out today.

I am a bit amused by my colleague's insistence that I have a performance review before I leave. Whatever.

What's up with the review before you leave? Weird...

Iris,
I saw your blog on revgalblogpals. Resigning can be tough. Are you going to a new pastorate? I wish you all the best. It must be a relief at least to have the word "out." Blessings to you

WOW! I haven't been here for awhile and missed the opportunity to pray for you in the discernment period. I'm praying now that you will be affirmed and mightily blessed in your new call. (And, when it's God's time for you to be in a parish ministry, God will open those doors open as wide as the doors of this position!)

Our Christian Ed program is constantly struggling. We've had a real problem with getting volunteers, so I appreciate your concern about the program continuing. It's great that you have kids who are committed to it, though-- I suspect that will sustain the momentum.

so happy for you that it went well! hooray!

the kids will be ok, it's amazing how people will step up at the last minute when they feel most needed.

love and peace to you!

Congrats on the new job! I'll give you a call tomorrow to see if we can get together for lunch. Sorry I haven't gotten it done sooner.
